Abstract
OBJECTIVE To discuss the clinical value of detection of serum procalcitonin(PCT)or C reactive protein(CRP)in early diagnosis of infections in the burn patients.METHODS Totally data of 86 burn patients who were hospitalized from Jun 2011 to Jun 2012 were retrospectively analyzed,which were divided into the severe infection group(15 cases),the localized infection group(40 cases)and control group(non-infection group,31 cases),then the levels of serum PCT and CRP were separately measured.RESULTS The PCT and CRP levels of the severe infection group were separately(9.3±7.5)ng/ml and(55.5±19.7)mg/L,and the positive rates of PCT and CRP in the severe infection group were separately 93.3%and 86.7%,the PCT and CRP levels of the localized infection group were(1.2±0.8)ng/ml and(33.5±14.5)mg/L,respectively,and the positive rates were 87.5% and 82.5%,respectively,the PCT and CRP levels of the control group were(0.2±0.1)ng/ml and(5.6±3.2) mg/L,respectively,and the positive rates were 9.7%and 22.6%,respectively,the positive rates of the severe infection group were significantly higher than that of the control group,the difference was significant(P0.05).The difference in the PCT level between the severe infection group and the localized infection group was also significant(P0.05),but the difference in the level of CRP between the two infection groups was not significant.With the PCT≥0.5ng/ml and/or CRP≥9mg/L regarded as the positive threshold value,the sensitivity of the combination detection of PCT and CRP was 87.2%,the specificity 93.3%,and the coincidence rate of diagnosis 88.4%.CONCLUSIONThe combination detection of PCT and CRP has great significance in the early diagnosis of infections and the predication of prognosis,providing effective basis for clinical treatment.
