Abstract

Colors display the splendid and gorgeous nature and words of color manifest great impressive power.However rooted in different cultural backgrounds, words of color are bound to take the brand of national characteristics. This paper makes a comparative study of the implicit meaning of the words of color in English and Chinese, thus showing the importance of understanding the cultural meaning of the foreign language in intercultural communication.
