Trial Discussion on the Causes of Ink Technique Boom in Calligraphy during Ming and Qing Dynast

Ink technique is both one important kind of art technique and one important part of aesthetic content in calligraphy art, but it far lags behind brush technique. Though beginning from Wei and Jin dynasty, it was booming in Ming and Qing dynasty. In Ming and Qing dynasty, people paid more attention to ink technique than their predecessors, and the expressiveness of ink technique was much more abundant than before. There are three causes for this phenomenon: First, the choice made by calligraphy itself according to its development; second, the rise of literati painting and the result of bring painting into calligraphy(yi hua ru shu); third, the changes of calligraphy materials.
