Relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and upper gastrointestinal symptoms in children

[Objective]To explore the relationship between Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection and upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric mucosal lesion.[Methods]A total of 300cases of children with upper gastrointestinal symptoms were enrolled.Hp was detected by 13C-urea breath test or serum test of Hp antibody,and 204cases underwent gastroscopy examination.[Results]①The positive rate of Hp was 34.67%(103/300).There was no significant difference in Hp positive rate between male and female patients(P 0.05).The positive rate of Hp was increased from group(3-6)years,(7-10)years to(11-14)years,and the differences between groups were significant(P0.05).② The gastroscope examination showed that 39.21%patients(80/204)had gastric mucosal lesion,and the rate of gastric mucosal lesions in Hp positive group was higher than that of Hp negative group(P0.05).③ The gastric mucosal lesions in Hp negative group were mild to moderate,while in Hp positive group they were moderate to severe,and the disease severity was significantly different between two groups(P0.05).[Conclusion]There is a high positive rate of Hp in children with upper gastrointestinal symptoms,and it is increased with the growth of age.Hp infection is associated with severity of gastric mucosal lesions.
