Abstract
ObjectiveTo explore the expression levels of death domain associate protein(Daxx) and E2 promoter binding factor-1(E2F1)in patients with childhood acute leukemia(AL)and evaluate their clinical significance.MethodsThe expression of Daxx and E2F1 in 40 AL patients and 20 nonmalignant hematologic patients were measured by immunohistochemical streptavidin-perosidase(IHC,SP).ResultsThe expression rates of Daxx and E2F1 in AL patients(40% and 57.5%)were higher than those in control group(10.0% and 20.0%)(P0.05 and P0.01).The expression rate of Daxx in AML patients(58.8%)was higher than that in ALL cases(26.1%)(P0.05).The expression rate of E2F1 in AML and ALL patients had no significant difference(P0.05).The complete remission(CR) rate of patients with negative expression of Daxx was higher than that in positive group(P0.05).There was no significant difference of CR rate between the positive and negative expression groups of E2F1(P0.05).It showed correlation between Daxx and E2F1 expression in newly dianosed AL(P0.05).ConclusionsThere was a high expression of Daxx and E2F1 in AL patients, which may be associated with the leukemogenesis of childhood AL and related to the treatment outcome and prognosis.
