Abstract
Since the founding of new China,farmers' identity has gone on a continuous structuring process.Chinese farmers' identity has experienced the changing process from farmers to rural workers and further to industrial workers.In different periods of development,the state gave different arrangement to the farmer identity systems,each of which was out of active system design and arrangement to force the identification and implementation in the light of potential output above cost.But the inertia caused by governmental arrangement on farmers' system has caused many obstacles to the change of identity from rural workers to town resident citizenship.It is therefore extremely important to reform the formal system that hinders the change of farmer identity and to remodeling unofficial system to promote the change of farmer identity.
