Clinical observation of root canal sterilizing by calcium hydroxide paste and iodoform in 97 patients

Objective To explore the efficacy of root canal cleanse with calcium hydroxide paste and iodoform.Methods One hundred and ninety-two patients with apical paradentitis or pulp necrosis,which were needing root canal cleanse,were divided randomly into the study group(97 cases)and the control group(95 cases).The root canal cleanse in study group of 97 patients was performed with calcium hydroxide paste and iodoform,and the phenocamphor and iodoform were used for root canal cleanse in 95 patients of control group.The therapeutic effects were evaluated on a week after tratment.Results The successful rate in the study group was 95.9% and the successful rate in the control group was 88.4%(P0.05).Conclusion The calcium hydroxide paste and iodoform is an ideal treatment for root canal cleanse.
