Social Transformation and Education Reform: Liang Qichao's View of the Qualified Personnel

Liang Qichao, is an outstanding intellectual and scholar in the late Qing Dynasty and early days of the Republic of China, whose brilliant expositions on the relation of social transformation and education reform give us a lot of inspirations. This paper focuses on Liang's exposition on the relation between social transformation and education reform, analyzing the influence of his thought of saving the nation by saving the people, rejuvenating China by renewing Chinese, and of his initiating schools to rear qualified personnel. This paper affirms the great significance of Liang's propositions. On the other hand, it points out his political deficiency and evaluates the influence of his confusion of the a-cademy and politics.
