Effects of structured teaching on the autistic children.

Abstract

【Objective】 To study the therapeutic effects of structured teaching for 32 autistic children. 【Methods】 After 32 children with autism were assessed,individual teaching plans were made.The structured teaching pattern was applied in training,including visual clues used in every action area.The structured work-rest time,educational environment and work organization were emphasized. They were asked to train 6 hours a day,5 days a week.After 6 months,they were re-assessed using Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist(ATEC) and C-PEP. 【Results】 The average ATEC total score of 32 children with autism was significantly decreased from(96.09±18.95) to(54.91±14.10)(P0.001).The subscale scores including language,social intercourse,sensory and behavior were decreased(P0.001).The average C-PEP score was increased from(28.00±11.08) to(48.00±11.27).The equivalent of year increased(9.00±5.32) months,but 6 months physiological development should be subtracted,it actually increased(3.00±5.32) months. 【Conclusion】 For children with autism,the structured teaching treatment is an effective training strategy.
