Abstract

Shuowen Jiezi(说文解字) is a traditional book in Chinese philological history and it is of important value in philology, phonology and exegetics. The article studies the pictophonetics of characters’ in Shuowen Jiezi(说文解字), discusses its form and content, and reveals its value in the cultural history and philological history.
