Abstract

Objective:To learn the application of capillary electrophoresis to the screening of thalassemia. Methods:Electrophoresis analysis was conducted on the hemoglobin of 3,196specimens with automatic capillary electrophoresis apparatus to determine the content of HbA2,HbF and abnormal hemoglobin.Abnormal hemoglobin of 426cases out of 3,196specimens had been detected,of which, higher HbA2was found in 165cases,accounting for 5.16%,and lower HbA2was found in 183cases,accounting for 5.73%.Of the 426cases,316cases performed the gene testing of synchronous thalassemia and comparative gene testing of electrophoresis. Results:The coincidence rate ofβthalassemia,HBH and HbCS was 100%,and the coincidence rate of static type and standard type ofαthalassemia was 78.26%.Conclusion:It is of great significance to prevent and reduce the neonate with thalassemia major by applying capillary electrophoresis to the screening of thalassemia.
