Abstract

Aimed at two conical nozzles with different configuration, the pressure and velocity in the flow field of high-pressure water-jet as two-phase flow were numerically simulated and analyzed by means of computational fluid dynamic method and compared to each other between the two nozzles. The result showed that the optional velocity distribution was obtained when the ratio of length to diameter of the straight conical nozzle was within the range of 2 to 3.When this ratio was appropriately selected, negative pressure would be formed in the nozzle-end and the boundary layer of the water-jet was basically composed of water-drops.The stability of the boundary layer was dependent on its Weber number.
