Abstract

Objective To know the high-resolution CT change in otosclerosis, and discuss the diagnostic value of multi-slice spiral CT in otosclerosis. Methods Collected 17 cases of otosclerosis diagnosed by clinical or surgical pathology. All the patients were examined by multi-slice CT scan, slice thickness was 0.625 mm, collected data to AW4.1 workstation for multi-planar reconstruction. Results Total 30 ears showed abnormal in 17 cases. The performance of multi-slice CT of otosclerosis could be divided into the window type, cochlea type, and mixed type. Window type 23 ears, only 18 ears were abnormal in vestibular window, such as the vestibular window too wide or narrow. 5 ears changed in cochlea and the vestibular window. 4 ears changed in cochlea, mainly changed in the bone in labyrinth round the cochlea, like the edge of Bony labyrinth in the cochlea was irregular, for the change of low density like sheet or bar or double- ring. Hybrid type in 3 ears, involved in the cochlea, oval window, cochlear window and other parts of the inner ear labyrinth at the same time. MPR reconstruction could clearly display the location and shapes of all the important anatomical structures, show two ears with high level jugular bulb. Conclusion Multi-slice CT can show the extent of otosclerosis clearly and for clinical classification, combined with MPR technology can provide detailed information of the preoperative diagnosis, and have important guiding significance for clinical selected appropriate surgical treatment methods and evaluate the treatment result.
