Liang Shuming's Discussion of the Common Grounds and Dissimilarities between the Confucianism and the Buddhism

Facing with the crisis of Chinese culture,Liang Shuming,jumped out of the cultural arguments of Chinese nationalities and the ethical conflicts when he made his thinking in a broadly cultural level.He suggested that though both the Confucianism and the Buddhism are different in means,ways and procedures,they have been essentially attempting to solve the puzzles and hardships people have faced in the world.Both Confucianism and Buddhism concern the meaning of life,making it a learning for people's internal improvement.Liang Shuming connected the buddhatva of Dachen Buddhism with the benevolence of Confucianism.In a certain sense,he joined the Buddhism thought and that of Confucianism together,and he opened an important road for the modern Neo-Confucians to discuss the mind.Due to the dual character in his thought,that's to say,he's affected by both the Confucianism and the Buddhism and influenced most by the latter,his culture philosophy was of strong religious breath.For all this,the main thought of Liang Shuming is still the Confucianism's.
