Abstract

Objective: To explore the role of the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at position A1675G of angiotensin II type 2 -receptor (AT2R) in patients with essential hypertension (EH) in the Chinese Han nationality population . Methods: Genotypes of the polymorphisms of AT2R gene in 181 patients with EH (EH group) and 187 healthy volunteers (control group) were determined by the allele - specific primer polymerase chain reaction (PCR). We analyzed genotype distribution and allele frequency of AT2R gene between EH group and control group were compared so as to evaluate the contribution of polymorphism of AT2R gene to hypertension, re-suits ; There was a significant increase in allele frequency of A167S in EH group compared with control group (53. 3 % vs 44.4 % ) , but the difference in two groups was of no statistical significance (P 0.05). This study showed a significant increase in allele frequency of A1675 (53.6% vs 42.9% , P 0. 05) in male essential hypertensive patients. There were no differences in genotypes ( AA, AG, GG) distribution and allele frequency of AT2R A1675G between female EH group and control group (P0.05). conclusion; The frequency of A allele in essential hypertension is higher than that in control group, but there is no statistical significance.
