Abstract
Strong acid cation ion exchange resin catalyst modified by cerium sulfate,P-hydroxybenzoic acid and n-butyl alcohol reacted to form butyl paraben.The factors influencing the yield were discussed,including amount of catalyst,the mole ratio of reactants,reaction time and so on.The experimental results showed that p-hydroxybenzoic acid 0.05 mol,molar ratio of alcohol to acid 3 ∶1,the catalyst 0.5 g and reaction time 5 h,the yield can reach 93.1%.It was the efficient,economic and environmental friendly catalyst.
