Analysis of adverse drug reaction reports

Objective To investigate the essential features of adverse drug reactions(ADR)in our hospital,assess the quality of ADR reports and provide information for ADR monitoring and rational drug use.Methods All reported ADR cases were downloaded from provincial center for ADR monitoring.Some data formats were converted or added necessarily.All items of the report form were collected and analyzed.Results 16 drug categories and total 98 kinds of medicines were involved in 360 ADR cases.31 antimicrobials and 13 Chinese herbal preparations,which led to 203 ADR cases and 28 ADR cases respectively,ranked first and second among all the drugs.The lesions of ADR involved primarily skin and its accessories(3%),then gastrointestinal system(21%).The intravenous route of administration caused 235 ADR cases(65%).New and severe ADR reports are few.The qualities of most reports were poor.Conclusion The training program for ADR reporters and cultivation of professional ability should be strengthened.ADR reporters'cognition and responsibility should be enhanced so as to improve the report quality.
