Inhibition of Five Antagonistic Bacteria to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Cubense

Abstract

Five antagonistic strains isolated from orchard soil were tested for their inhibitive efficacy and their acting mechanisms against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. Cubense. The results showed that five days after incubation of the antagonistic strains( d4, d5, d6, B3 , p) with the pathogen in the dual test on PDA plates, inhibitive zones with 16.5~20.5 mm width were formed. Their inhibitive efficacy maintained stable 10 days after incubation. Antagonistic strains d4,d5, d6,B3, P, could significantly inhibit conidial germination of the pathogen, with inhibitive rates ranging from 90.49% to 97.18%. The acting mechanisms of these antagonistic strains showed that they could break down hyphae, turn hyphal cells into swollen sacs,inhibit conidial germination, distort germ tubes of conidia of the pathogen.
