Abstract

Objective To study the liver tissue pathology in chronic hepatitis B virus(HBV) carriers and it's association of the age and sex of patients. Methods Seven two of chronic HBV carriers accepted percutaneous liver biopsy, and the tissue slices were analyzed by the pathologist. Then the relationships between the degree of hepatic inflammation and liver fibrosis to the age and sex of patients were analyzed. Results Most of the chronic HBV carriers appeared inflammation and fibrosis:mild chronic hepatitis(G1-2,S0-2) was 38 cases(52.78%),moderate chronic hepatitis(G3,S1-3) was 25 cases(34.72%),severe chronic hepatitis(G4,S2-4) was 5 cases(6.94%),and liver cirrhosis 2 cases. The age and sex of patients were positively related to the hepatic inflammation degree and fibrosis stage. Conclusion Chronic HBV carriers especially in the elderly and male patients should be given percutaneous biopsy to decide whether they should take antiretroviral therapy.
