Expression of PCNA in human bladder transitional cell carcinoma and its clinical significance

Objective:To investigate the expression of PCNA in human bladder transitional cell carcinoma(TCC) and its relationship with the histological grades,clinical stages and prognosis of TCC.Methods:PCNA expression was detected by S P immunohistochemistry method in 65 TCC cases and 11 normal bladder tissues.Results:The expression of PCNA between TCC group and normal tissue group was significantly different( P 0.01).The poorer the differentiation of bladder cancer was related to the higher level of the PCNA positive expression.The carcinoma of (Ⅰ,Ⅱ)grades,(Tis～T\-1) stages exhibited lower PCNA expression level as compared with Ⅲ grade,(T\-2～T\-4) stages respectively( P 0.005).The expression of PCNA in recurrence group was significantly higher than that in nonrecurrence group( P 0.005).Conclusions:PCNA could be used as a marker in the determination of the malignancy,therapy and prognosis of TCC.
