Effect observation of pterygium excision combined with autologous limbus corneae stem cell transplantation in the treatment of pterygium

Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of pterygium excision combined with autologous limbus corneae stem cell transplantation in the treatment of pterygium.Methods 80 cases patients(92 eyes) with primary pterygium were divided into treatment group(38 cases,45 eyes) and control group(42 cases,47 eyes).Control group were treated by traditional operation of pterygium excision,treatment group were treated by pterygium excision combined with autologous limbus corneae stem cell transplantation.Compared the effect and postoperative recurrence of the two groups.Results The corneal epithelial healing rate of treatment group was significantly faster than that of control group;And within 12 months,the recurrence rate of treatment group(2.6%) was significantly lower than that of control group(31.0%),the difference was statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusion Pterygium excision combined with autologous limbus corneae stem cell transplantation is a simple and effective method for treatment of pterygium.
