Abstract

Objective: To study the OHRQOL of patients wearing lingualized occlusion complete dentures and evaluate if lingualized occlusion has superiority to anatomic bilateral balanced occlusion in clinical settings. Methods: Each of ten patients enrolled in the cross-over designed trial had worn the dentures of lingualized occlusion and anatomic bilateral balanced occlusion for 8 weeks respectively. In each phase, subjective data was collected by using 20-OHIP to measure the OHRQOL.Results: Lingualized occlusion were perceived to be significantly superior in terms of fitting properly(P=0.046),avoiding certain foods(P=0.025),meals interruption(P=0.025) and the total score of OHIP compared with anatomic bilateral balanced occlusion. Conclusion: The lingualized occlusion can improve the OHRQOL of patients wearing complete dentures, compared with anatomic bilateral balanced occlusion.
