On Tung-nien Association of the Imperial Scholars in Tang and Song Dynasties

Tung-nien Associations were organizations which imperial examination-passers of the same year joined in.The parties covered celebrations for the new passers held by government and all kinds of private parties.As the final imperial examination was the most important at that time,the membership of Tung-nien Associations was mainly privileged by Imperial Scholars.The Association offered not only opportunities for the new Imperial Scholars to gain friendship with each other and also a chief platform where they could strengthen their relations and further cooperation in the future.That's why Tung-nien Association was an important way of social companion in ancient intellectuals' state.
