Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of curcumin and curcumin-based combination chemotherapy on human ovarian cancer cell line 3AO in vitro. Methods: The sensitivity test of curcumin and its combination with cDDP, CBP or TPT, which were frequently used in chemotherapy, was carried out by MTT assay to observe the cell growth inhibiting rate. Results: Curcumin was effective in inhibiting the proliferation of 3AO cells, its IC50 being 23.4 μmol/L. The inhibiting rates of cDDP, CBP and TPT to 3AO were enhanced significantly by the combination with curcumin(P0.05~0.01). Conclusion: Curcumin effectively inhibits the human ovarian cancer cell line 3AO in vitro, and the chemotherapy effect can be enhanced by the combination of curcumin with cDDP, CBP or TPT.
