Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effect of curcumin and curcumin-based combination chemotherapy on Hela cells of cervical carcinoma in vitro. Methods: The sensitivity test of curcumin and its combination with cDDP, BLM or TPT, which were frequently used in chemotherapy, was carried out by MTT assay to observe the cell growth inhibiting rate. Results: Curcumin was effective in inhibiting the proliferation of Hela cells, its IC50 being 22.37μmol/L. The inhibiting rates of cDDP, BLM and TPT to HeLa cells were enhanced significantly by the combination with curcumin (P0.05). Conclusion: Curcumin effectively inhibits the Hela cells of cervical carcinoma in vitro, and the chemotherapy effect can be enhanced by the combination of curcumin with cDDP, BLM or TPT.
