Abstract
An analysis of the dominant tradition of Western philosophy is an interpretation of the history of Western philosophy.Through this study,it is clear that the dominant trend revolves on metaphysical thinking,scientific method with rationality,humanistic concern with a religious orientation,strong social consciousness and critical spirit,rational wisdom in practice and practical rationality.This study reveals that Western philosophy is not so mystic and incomprehensible as we imaged because it is closely related to our social activities and life-world while rational analysis and critical meditation are the soul of Western philosophy.
