Abstract
This paper studies the synthesis of β-naphthyl ethyl ether under microwave radiation with β-naphthol and anhydrous alcohol as raw material and concentrated sulfuric acid as catalyst. It also explores the effects of reaction condition upon the yields. The experimental results show that β-naphthol is 3.6 g(0.025 mol),anhydrous alcohol is 30 mL,concentrated sulfuric acid is 7 mL,the microwave radiation power is 260 W,radiation time is 40 min,the yield of β-naphthyl ethyl ether exceed 71%. Using this method instead of the original methods, the reaction time can be shorted(from 6h to 40 min)and the yield be increased(from 60% to 71%).
