Abstract
Objective To detect the expressions of tumor stem cell markers CD133and CD90in human primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and analyze the relationship between CD133and CD90expression and biological behavior as well as prognosis of HCC. Methods BY using tissue microarray and immunohistochemical method (PV 6000),the expressions of CD133and CD90were determined in HCC tissue of 245cases,para-carcinoma tissue of 82cases,and cirrhotic tissue of 82cases. The relationship between the expressions and clinicopathological characteristics as well as survival was analyzed, the correlation between CD133and CD90was judged as well. Results The expression of CD133in the cancer tissue was much lower than that in para-carcinoma and cirrhotic tissue(χ2=71.736,21.497;P0.05),and the expression was related to tumor differentiation, that in well differentiated HCC was higher than that in poorly differentiated HCC(χ2=6.634,P0.05).CD90expression was obviously hig-her in HCC tissue than in para-carcinoma and cirrhotic tissue(χ2=42.201,42.201;P0.05).CD90was correlated with the tumor size(χ2=4.572,P0.05).The expressions of CD133and CD90in HCC were not associated with life span. There was no correlation between CD133and CD90in HCC tissue. Conclusion CD133as a marker of liver cancer stem cells remains to be further discussed and CD90is likely to play an important role in the development and progression of HCC.
