Abstract
The modernization of Chinese education administration can be traced back to the founding of the Capital University, the setting up of the General Minister of Education and the establishment of the Central Ministry of Education. Because of his great contributions to the modernization of Chinese education administration, Zhang Zhidong can be called Number One in modern Chinese history. The modernization of Chinese education administration has epoch making significance and can still provide enlightenment for the present education administration reform.
