Analysis of water environment variation in the Taihu Lake Basin

From mid-1990s to 2006,the water quality of Taihu Lake has been declined grade Ⅴ.The eutrophication condition has been become middle from light in past 10 years.From water quality variation of the rivers around the Taihu Lake in recent years,the various water quality indexes of rivers in Changzhou City area are all in a worsening state.The chlorophyll contents in the Taihu Lake have risen year by year,in past 10 years,average value have increased by 237% and shows the trend of accelerated growth in the late years.Industrialization,urbanization as well as shifts of irrational agricultural production mode and life quality improvements contributed greatly to water quality deterioration of the Taihu Lake.Moreover,backward consciousness about environmental protection,insufficient control ability and irrational management system are the fundamental reasons for water environmental deterioration in the lake.In the light of the worsening state and causes of the Taihu lake water quality,the countermeasures to prevent water pollution of the Taihu Lake are discussed.
