Abstract
Stochastic simulation is an important approach in modern reservoir description. Compared with traditional interpolation, stochastic simulation can not only describe the slight changes of reservoir attribute property,but also get several models. Therefore, reservoir heterogeneities and uncertainties can be described effectively. In this paper, the concepts on stochastic simulation, classification, and modeling idea and steps are introduced. And the several methods often used in stochastic simulation are presented At last, the problems are discussed that must be considered in stochastic simulation, and the development trend and application prospect of stochastic simulation are also indicated.
