Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of escitalopram and paroxetine in treatment of patients with depression. Methods Seventy six patients with depression were randomly assigned into 2 groups: 38 cases in escitalopram group were treated with 10 ~ 20 mg / d and 38 cases in paroxetine group treated with 20 ~ 40 mg / d,the treatment course in each group was 8 weeks.HAMD17 and CGI-SI were applied for evaluation of efficacy, and TESS was applied for evaluation of adverse events. Results Escitalopram and paroxetine have similar therapeutic efficacy(P 0.05),and escitalopram has faster action than that of paroxetine(P 0.05).The incidence of adverse events in patients of escitalopram group is less than that of patients in paroxetine group(P 0.05).Conclusion Escitalopram is an ideal antidepressant.
