Abstract
157 Escherichia coli strains were isolated from diseased and dead chickens and 92 from pigs in several large farms in the mid-northern region of Henan Province, then those strains were identified by the E.coli chromogenic medium. The antibacterial susceptibility determinations were performed by the two-fold broth dilution method. The results revealed that the E.coli strains isolated from chickens were relatively susceptible to amoxillin/clavulanic acid, ceftiofur and amikaxin. The resistant rates were 40.8%,59.9% and 56.7%,respectively.Meanwhile those isolates were highly resistant to ampicillin, kanamycin, tetracycline, sulfafurazole, sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, norfloxacin, lomefloxacin, danofloxacin and polymycin E,the resistant rates were all above 95%.On the other hand, the E.coli strains isolated from pigs were highly susceptible to amikaxin with a resistant rate of 2%,and relatively susceptible to amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, ceftiofur and apramycin with the resistant rates of 40.8%,59.9% and 56.7%,respectively.And those isolates were highly resistant to ampicillin, cefazolin, streptomycin, kanamycin, spectromycin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin and danofloxacin, the resistant rates were all above 95%.These strains were all resistant to several antibacterial drugs in prevalence, mainly to 17~23 kinds of antibacterial drugs. These data provide a reference for the rational use of antibacterial drugs in this region. Also, continual monitoring of antibacterial resistance is necessary due to the serious resistant condition of E.coli strains isolated from this region.
