Abstract

A finite difference (FD) algorithm is used to solve the Reynolds equation over the seal face of a liquid lubricated spiral groove mechanical seal to obtain the two-dimensional pressure distribution. The law how operating parameters and the configuration parameters affect the face opening force and the liquid film stiffness is calculated and analyzed.
