Abstract
In Hefei dialect,zai bears a usage different from that of Mandarin Chinese.It can be used at the end of a sentence to signify being in process.This paper attemps to analyse the distribution and meaning types of such zai.In addition,it tries to prove that its grammatical quality is a style marker showing being in process and continuity.
