Abstract
The relationship between approach speed of long jump and performances of athletes was studied in 78 college male students in general training courses of long jump in physical education departments of several representative colleges and universities. Among them the problems existing in the aspects of long jump skill, physical efficiency and teaching were discovered. In allusion to the abovementioned problems a new sort of laboratory class was designed, in which priority was given to the principal teaching procedure and the subordinate teaching procedure was taken as the supplement. The results indicated that the principal and subordinate teaching procedure was conducive to setting up the students' dynamic stereotypes with the close combination of running and jumping skills. The table of the relationship pattern between approach speed of long jump and performances of male students in general training courses was established. It is the gist for reference in examining the students' skill of beating the board and improving the teaching method.
