Abstract

Hydraulic tunnel is an important part of hydropower project.For masonry arch dam structure,tunnel excavation in dam abutment influences the structural integrity of the mountains.In such case,the loads of the arch dam and mountain will be re-distributed automatically.The displacement and stress of the dam and the abutments will change too,thereby affects the stability and safety of arch dam.Making use of basic principles of finite element method and ANSYS finite element analysis software to establish a Dam-Tunnel – Foundation Three-dimensional Element Model.It is used to calculate and analyze the arch dam abutment displacement and dam stress under the different tunnel radius in the situation of gravity load and full reservoir load.It is expected to provide a basic theory for dam abutment tunnel design.
