Abstract

Objective To evaluate selective angiographic diagnosis and superselective embolization of intractable epistaxis in 21cases.Methods The seldinger technique was used in a ll patients. The catheter was introd uced via femoral artery on the right side.Selective angiographic analysis and di agnosis were performed.Superselective an-giographic embolization with silk t hread in diamend form 140to 250um was performed in bleeding vessels. Results All cases achieved satisfactory effect.During the follow -up 2to 12mont h,no patients recurrence nose bleed ing.8cases were operated in 1week.Bleedi ng reduced sharply in operation, and difficulty of operation cut down and success rate of operation was increa sed. Conclusions Selective angiographic diagnosis, and Superselective angio-graphic embolization, and suitive s ilk thread granular, and appropriate embolic speed is critical for successful treat-ment of massive epistais,Maxillary artery embolization is safe, effective, and uncomplicated Interventio nal em-bolization has afforded a new methed for acoustic -nasola -larynxologic operation.
