Application of Chinese Medicine Combined with Integrated Physical Therapy in Early Stage of Acute Mastitis During Lactation Period

Objective:To evaluate the effect of Chinese medicine combined with integrated physical therapy for the treatment of early stage acute mastitis during lactation period.Methods:From May to December in 2009,155 patients with acute mastitis(within 24-48 hours after the onset) were randomly divided into Chinese medicine group and western medicine group.Chinese medicine group was given integrated physical therapy combined with oral use of Brunrllae oral solution and external use of Ruyi Jinhuang Powder,and western medicine group was given integrated physical therapy combined with oral use of antibiotics for consecutive 2~3 days.Results:The effective rate in Chinese medicine group was 87.8%,while the effective rate in western medicine group was 93.4%,and there was no significant difference between them(P0.05).After treatment,WBC count in both groups decreased significantly(P0.05 compared to that before treatment),and dropped to(6.7±1.5)×109/L in Chinese medicine group and(6.4±0.6)×109/L in western medicine group.However,the difference of WBC count was insignificant between these two groups(P 0.05).Conclusion:In the early stage of acute mastitis during lactation period,Chinese medicine combined with integrated physical therapy is as effective as antibiotic therapy for acute mastitis,and can be considered as a reasonable replacement for antibiotic treatment.
