Abstract
In this paper, geographical distribution of extratropical storm surges in the world are introduced. Extratropical storm surges and their types in China Seas are discussed. The present prediction techniques and forecasting accuracy of extratropical storm surge in the world are reviewed briefly. Finally, countermeasures of extratropical storm surge disaster protection and reduction are proposed.
