Influence of atorvastatin to sICAM-1,sVCAM-1 and PAI-1 in acute coronary syndrome patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention

Abstract

Objective To explore the influence of different doses of atorvastatin on adhesion molecule and fibrinolytic molecule levels in acute coronary syndrome(ACS) patients receiving percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).Methods 58 ACS patients were classified into two groups after the routine treatment.A group was atorvastatin regular dose group(29 cases),and B group was atorvastatin loading dose group(29 cases).The patients in A group received atorvastatin 40 mg/d 2 hours before PCI and subsequently in the other days;the patients in B group received atorvastatin 80 mg/d 2 hours before PCI,80 mg/d subsequently for 7 days and 40 mg/d from the 8th day after PCI.The concentrations of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1),soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(sVCAM-1) and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) before PCI and on the 3rd,7th and 14th days after PCI.Results At the 7th day,the adhesion molecules′ concentrations in B loading dose group were significantly lower than those in A regular dose group.In A group,the PAI-1 level was increasing at 1st day-3rd day after PCI(P0.05),but did not increase in B group.Comparing with A regular dose group,the decrease of B loading dose group was obvious(P0.05).There was no statistical significance in the blood lipid levels of two groups.Conclusions In loading dose group,the levels of sICAM-1,sVCAM-1 and PAI-1 decrease more significantly than those in regular dose group,which impresses the inflammations after PCI and modifies the balance of fibrinolytic function.It may decrease the occurrence of PCI-related adverse events.
