Abstract
Objective To improve the treatment effects for acute leukemia patients and their quality of life. Method based on differentiation of TCM, we used big dosage of fresh herbs for nourishing yin and clearing internal heat to treat 76 acute leukemia cases. Result complete remission, 37 cases ( 48.7% ), partial remission 14 cases (18.4%), No remission 25 cases (32.9%). The total remission rate was 67.1%. Among the remission cases, the shortest time of herbal treatment was 30 days; the longest time of herbal treatment was 180 days. Average time was 60.5 days. Conclusion The fresh herbs that have function to nourish yin and clear internal heat, is good to treat acute leukemia. This treatment should be guided by T.C.M differentiation and western medical diagnosis. This treatment should be for both causes and related symptoms. The patients' conditions should be considered not only from the point of their pathological factors but also their body conditions. This herbal treatment can improve remission rate, prolong the patients' life. It can decrease the side effects of chemical therapy, improve the patients' quality of life.
