Abstract
Objective To investigate the protection and mechanism of sevoflurane on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI)in rats. Methods Eighteen SD rats were allocated randomly and equally to false ischemia-reperfusion group(group I/R),sevoflurane group (group S) and operating group(group C).Serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (Cr), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malonaldehyde (MDA) were detected 3 hours after reperfusion. Renal histopathology lesions were examined. Results Compared with group C, the levels of BUN and Cr increased significantly in group I/R and S(P0.05), which were decreased significantly by sevoflurane inhalation(P0.05). Compared with group I/R, SOD increased and MDA decreased in group S. The pathological scale in group S was lower than that in group I/R (P0.05). Conclusion Sevoflurane has protective effect on renal IRI in rats, partly through the inhibition of oxygen-derived free radicals.
