Abstract

A bacterium HS-047 isolated from sludge near the drain of a textile mill in Wuhan was found capable of aerobic denitrification. The denitrifying capability was determined. More than 90% of 10mM nitrate was removed within 18 hours by this bacterium in specific medium. Main biochemical and physiological features of this strain were characterized. From the results, the strain HS-047 was primarily identified as a new strain belonging to Pseudomonas.
