Application of CP and PP in Interpreting

This thesis aims to study the practice of interpreting from the pragmatic point of view.As two important theories in the field of pragmatics,Grice's Cooperative Principle and Leech's Politeness Principle both have great insights on interpreting,with the latter complimentary to the former.Generally speaking,interpreters should follow the four maxims in Cooperative Principle in interpreting,however,he can flout Cooperative Principle in order to obey Politeness Principle when necessary.The application of the two principles into interpreting can effectively promote the successful cooperation between the two parties of communication.
