Abstract
A well defined graft copolymer of styrene(St) and n butyl acrylate(BA) was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) with the copolymer of styrene and chloromethyl stryrene as macroinitiator, which was first synthesized by the nitroxide mediated copolymerization of St and 4 chloromethyl styrene (CMS) at 130℃ with benzoyl peroxide/4 hydro TEMPO as initiator. The kinetics of the two kinds of “living”/controlled polymerization were also studied. These copolymers, i.e. P(St co \|CMS) and P(St g BA),were characterized by means of GPC,DSC and 1H NMR,respectively. The average graft number and length of side chains for such a kind of graft copolymer were defermined.
