Abstract

Objective The present study was designed to understand the problems existing in the epidemic report system for infectious diseases, and so accurately evaluate the status of epidemic situation report work in the city and formulate corresponding measures. Methods A comparative analysis was done for conditions of disease report of new system and old system of epidemic situation report for infectious diseases. Results In the first half year of 2004, the number of cases of infectious diseases reported through the direct network report system (new system) was 32.85% higher than that reported through Daoyuan system (old system) in Hangzhou City. Conclusion The data of epidemic situation from national disease monitoring network report was more approximate to the actual circumstance. In order to ensure an effective operation of national disease monitoring network report system, the most important is to standardize the epidemic situation report management work of kinds of medical institutes at all levels, further advance the awareness of hospitals and medical personnel for reporting infectious diseases, and make infectious disease be diagnosed according to relevant national standard and reported through network within time limit. Additionally, administrators for epidemic situations of disease control centers of districts and counties (cities) should promote their own work quality and sense of responsibility, which is an important part for bettering direct network report of infectious diseases.
