Ideational Grammatical Metaphor in Chinese and Rank-Shift

Grammatical metaphor is an important theory in Systemic Functional linguistics, which is proposed by Halliday in 1985. According to the metafunction theory, grammatical metaphor can be divided into ideational grammatical metaphor and interpersonal grammatical metaphor. This study will analyse ideational grammatical metaphor in Chinese from the aspects of rank-shift and category-shift, especially the Chinese nominal group as ideational grammatical metaphor. This study hopes that it will help individuals understand the Chinese grammatical metaphor.
