Abstract

A translator is the subject of translation, which plays an important role in translation studies. This paper points out that the translator's subjectivity has long been obscured and the status of the translator is marginalized. With the rise of deconstruction theory, the translator's subjectivity begins to be recognized and translation is taken as a kind of dialogue among subjects. However, the creativity of the translator is overstated during this stage.Much attention is paid to the diversity among subjects while the universality of human beings is ignored.By analyzing the phenomenon of retranslation, this paper tries to find out how the translator's subjectivity works.
