Abstract

Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasonography for radial neuritis. Methods: Preoperative ultrasonography was used to examine 31 patients with radial neuritis. The ultrasonographic characteristics were summarized. The diagnostic coincidence was calculated on the basis of intraoperative observations. Results: The ultrasonographic characteristics of radial neuritis were classified into two types. Type I: hypoechoic swelling of the radial nerves. Ultrasonographic diagnoses were all correct. Type II: single or multiple hourglass-like constrictions of the radial nerves. The accuracy was 92.1%. Conclusion: Radial neuritis has distinctive ultrasonographic character. Ultrasonography provides timely and accurate visual information for clinical diagnosis.
